Important: do NOT use this version

This version includes very old software and drivers. The repositories are no longer working. We keep it as a 'showcase' for the original Elive experience, so download it only to play with it. If you want to seriously use Elive, you must go for the latest Beta version instead, which is highly featured and extremely stable. On the other hand, we recommend trying this version if you want to see a polished Elive experience as we envisioned it 15 years ago.

Instructions

  1. Create your Elive bootable USB stick
  2. Disable UEFI and options in BIOS
  3. Boot from Elive (bios menu)

Important: Use only the tools suggested to record your USB or you won’t be able to boot it correctly due to modifications that other tools does.

Technical details

  • Min. Requirements: 192 Mb RAM, 500 Mhz CPU

  • 32-bit, non-UEFI, sysinit, PAE (bigmem) kernel + 486 kernel

  • Without SystemD (preferred) / Without Pulseaudio (audio integrated, not needed, resources saving)

  • Install & Live, with advanced persistence features and encryption

  • Note: The download feels big because is a full suite, including cached packages, optional software, demo contents, and a few dependencies without require internet. The installation allows to select applications and fine-tune features giving the possibility to have an even much lighter result.

  • Debian Wheezy based

  • Kernel 3.16

Next Development

The new Beta versions are ready and very stable, including UEFI and 64BIT, but they don't offer a so beautiful and polished experience (yet).
